I would really love to see this game back in print. It came out while I was still in the service. When I got back stateside I saw it on Indie Press Revolution and thought it sounded great but I can't seem to find it anywhere, online or otherwise. It sounds really awesome, I can't wait to try it out someday.

Just an update to say I've played Ribbon Drive a handful more times (it's quite difficult getting the right players together) and have had some more excellent games, it's given me some of the best roleplaying (and definitely for one shots <b>the</b> best roleplaying) of the systems I have played in the last few years.

We still haven't really found a need for a Detour, but that hasn't detracted from the game at all. I've found its strength is in making very small, heartfelt, stories. Where we have just put some people who know each other together as characters, with small futures that mean something to them, but not necessarily anyone outside of the group, then it has really sung. The closest we've had to a failure was when the set-up CD was all very heavy metal and the only sensible story included conflict which, of course, didn't really work. For antagonistic games which want random results to breed tension then other systems work better, but that shouldn't be a surprise.

The last game I played, a few months ago now, all four Players knew each other well and we told the story of a group of circus performers (some current, some moved on) three of whom were of an age, the fourth the daughter of the woman whose funeral they were heading to. The only 'mistake' we made was that we broke the game in to scenes, we could happily have spent 4 hours just having the fourway conversation in the car that started when everyone was collected from the airport and ended as they arrived at the cemetary.

Secrets were revealed, truths were told and a childrens TV presenters job was saved after a drunken rant. It was all good.

Joe, I forgot your email, but I just wrote up an AP for the ribbon drive game which involved a satanist, a ghost, Death, and an atheist. I also started a discussion for it on Story-games.com, here: http://story-games.com/forums/comments.php?DiscussionID=14855. I had a lot of fun with it. P.S. It was good seeing you while you were in Olympia.
